Steel Building Plans

Steel Building Plans

So you have been dreaming about a steel building,  a storage building,  an RV garage, a hobby shop or maybe just a steel garage to keep your belongings out of the weather and give you room to enjoy your hobbies.

Come back down to earth and I’ll try to help you turn your dreams into reality.

First let’s take a look at your needs.  What are you going to store in the steel structure?

Do you plan to store a Recreational Vehicle?

If you plan to store an RV, you will need to know the clearance height of your RV.  My experience shows that you will need at least 13’-6” of clearance for a Class A motor coach.

Many of you may not own a Class A motor coach and the RV that you currently own is only 12’ tall. Look a few years down the road, you never know you may trade up to a Class A coach one day.  This is something to consider and another reason to research steel building plans.

Go Green With Steel Buildings

February 17th, 2009
When you think of environmentally friendly, steel is probably not the first material that comes to mind. But you should reframe the way you think about steel buildings. Look at the following ways steel buildings are going green.

Recyclable and Reusable

Steel is a durable product when in service, but when it is no longer in use, it can easily be reclaimed for use in another product or recycled into another steel product for further use.

The design of some steel truss buildings can also easily accommodate remodeling/retrofitting at a later date with minimum waste. This extends the sustainable life of the structure through rebirth or repurposing. With steel, the cradle-to-grave cycle can be avoided.

Can a Steel Building be Used as a Dog Kennel?

February 17th, 2009
If you operate a dog kennel, you are probably wondering if you can utilize a steel building in order to expand the business. The truth is that you can. Many businesses that house dogs are using steel buildings to ensure that the dogs are in a warm and secure place. It is very important that the dogs are as comfortable as possible, which is crucial to the operation of the kennel. It is also important that the quarters stay clean so that the dogs stay healthy.

By providing a healthy environment for the dogs, they will be less distraught that their owner has had to leave them there. Many owners must leave their dogs at kennels while they are on vacation or are traveling on business. As a result, dogs can become upset, but having a nice kennel will keep the dog’s stress level to a minimum.

Mother Nature Can Huff and Puff But She Can’t Blow a High-quality Steel Building Down

February 17th, 2009
Believe it or not, a well-designed steel building is a very smart investment, especially when you want to protect yourself and your valuables from harsh weather. Besides being more cost effective and easier to build than conventional buildings, steel buildings are sturdier and built to last.

In fact, quality steel buildings even beat most conventional buildings when it comes to withstanding the elements.

How do you Keep a Steel Building Cool in the Hot Summer Months

February 17th, 2009
Amy Nutt asked:

We all know that the summer months are getting even hotter and we will do almost anything to stay cool. The last thing that we need is to be inside a steel building where the temperature can become considerably hotter than the temperature outside.

With temperatures sometimes exceeding the 90s or even the 100 degree mark, it is important to keep steel buildings cool, especially when people may be working inside or even living in a steel building that has been converted into a residential home.

Pre-engineered Steel Buildings Help Churches Save Money While They Grow

February 17th, 2009
Linda Falorio asked:

In today’s economy, we are all looking for the best way to take care of business in the most cost effective way.

When faced with the need to spend their congregation’s money well, to keep design and construction costs within budget and maintenance costs low, many churches look to pre-engineered steel buildings as an attractive alternative to more conventional stone, brick or wood construction.

Are Steel Buildings as Strong as Traditional Wood Buildings?

February 17th, 2009
Amy Nutt asked:

So you are in need of a building to place on your property and you are torn over whether or not to go for building a wood building or whether you should invest in a steel building. This can be a very good question since this is a large investment and you want it to last for a very long time. You aren’t sure which of the two are stronger, which will be easier to maintain, or which will be more practical. You are not wrong for asking these questions because it is your money and you certainly want something that will last at least through your lifetime or even longer.

A little research will show that the use of steel in construction has grown phenomenally in recent years. Yes, steel has been used for a very long time in the construction industry, but the true practicality of it has just been realized. Wood was once the material of choice for erecting structures, but that was when logging and such land stripping activities were not such a problem. Now we end up with imitation woods and acquiring real wood is considerably more expensive. The environmental factor is one reason why many are steering clear of using wood and moving toward the affordability of steel .

Steel Making the Right Choice

February 17th, 2009

While you might be excited about the prospect of having your own steel building, there are plenty of other details that you may have overlooked. When you’re building anything, you will want to consider certain questions in order to achieve your desired results. There’s an old saying that a carpenter ‘measures twice, but only cuts once,’ and you should follow that sage advice.

What do you want to build? There are dozens and dozens of steel buildings that you could build, but what are you going to use the space for? If you have a certain idea in mind, you will want to start considering what you will be doing in that space as well as what you need to do it right. You might want to talk with steel building suppliers to tell them what you have been considering and what that might entail. With all of their experience, many steel building contractors can give you suggestions as to what might work out best.

The Many Faces and Shapes of Steel

February 17th, 2009

One of the best things about building for yourself is the fact that you can design anything, any shape that you want. However, not all building materials are as flexible or as varied as the ideas in your head. But steel is. With steel buildings, you can create a number of shapes and designs without any trouble and usually without excessive engineering needed. All you need is an idea of what you want, and steel building suppliers have probably already thought of it.

There are many different kinds of steel buildings that are available:

Steel Buildings – Understanding the Steel Building Industry

February 16th, 2009
Mike asked:

The rising trend

Increased population, expanded businesses, advanced technological processes leading to an insatiable demand for quality, attractive and low-maintenance cost buildings have made the world extol and accept the steel building industry. Building steel buildings – from concert halls to hospitals to schools to churches – is the new trend in today’s day and age.
